Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and other technical drawings to determine the layout of piping systems
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading, and welding using calipers, rulers, and other measuring tools
- Cut, thread, and weld pipes using various tools such as saws, cutting torches, and welding machines
- Fabricate and assemble piping systems using various materials such as steel, copper, and plastic
- Install piping systems according to codes and standards set by local and national regulations
- Test piping systems for leaks using pressure gauges and other testing equipment
- Maintain piping systems by repairing or replacing damaged or worn components
- Rig pipes for lifting and positioning using cranes or other lifting equipment
- Perform tube bending to create custom pipe configurations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a pipefitter or similar role
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools used in pipefitting such as saws, grinders, cutting torches, welding machines, etc.
- Knowledge of building codes and standards related to piping systems
- Ability to fabricate, assemble, install, maintain, and repair piping systems made from various materials such as steel, copper, plastic etc.
- Ability to rig pipes for lifting and positioning using cranes or other lifting equipment
- Familiarity with tube bending techniques
